All right. Bye Horus falls under the label of Post-Rock. The genre is characterized by its lyric-less, melodic and longer than average songs that generally start quietly and gradually build in intensity to climax in an instrumentation thunderstorm. Think Mogwai or Godspeed you Black Emperor.
Bye Horus is a very fine Post-Rock band. The 3 musicians are in their mid-twenties and started playing music together in the French Northern Alps, where they grew up. They gained popularity through intensive touring across France, Europe, and North America. A track from their former album, “Notre chorale est belle” was recently heard in an episode of Californication’s latest season.
“Archipels” is Bye Horus latest album, and it is its most accomplished. “Archipels” is relatively short: 4 tracks and 33 minutes altogether. It is way enough for the 3 musicians to display their exceptional sense of melody. Each track is a different musical story charged with emotions , and the surgical precision of orchestration would put to shame any US military executive.
In one word: Talented.

Bye Horus fait partie de la nouvelle génération Post-Rock. Le genre se démarque par des titres singulièrement mélodieux, très souvent sans chant, qui montent graduellement en intensité pour souvent atteindre une explosion orgasmico-instrumentale. À noter que la durée standard de 3 à 5 minutes n’est que très rarement respectée. On visera plutôt les 10-15 minutes par titres, voire plus. Références du genre? Mogwai, ou Godspeed you Black Emperor.
Ainsi, Bye Horus est un très bon groupe de Post-Rock. Les 3 jeunes membres sont originaires de la région savoyarde et se sont fait connaître avant tout au travers de leurs nombreuses tournées en France, en Europe, mais aussi sur la côte est en Amérique du Nord. Récemment, un titre de leur précédent album, “Notre Chorale est Belle”, a été utilisé pour conclure un épisode de la série Californication. Cheers Hank Moody.
“Archipels” est le nouvel album de Bye Horus, et c’est très certainement le plus abouti de tous. L’album est plutôt court: 4 tracks, 33 minutes. Cette grosse demi-heure suffit largement aux trois post-musiciens pour démontrer leur sens hors-norme de la mélodie. Chaque titre est chargé en émotion, et se démarque par la précision chirurgicale de l’orchestration.
Talentueux, oui.
